What should I do if I want to move home as a keyworker?

2 min read

How do I give notice to move out?

If you're planning to leave your keyworker accommodation, you need to let us know in advance:

  • Monthly tenancy - give at least one calendar months’ notice

  • Weekly tenancy - give at least four weeks' notice

Ways to give notice

To give your notice you can:

Once we receive your notice, we’ll confirm your moving date and provide guidance on what to do before you leave.

Important: If you move out without telling us, you’ll still be charged rent and it may affect your ability to rent from us in the future.

Can I rent out or sublet my home?

No, subletting is not allowed if you rent your home from us.

  • You can only rent it out if you own 100% of the property and your lease permits it

  • Subletting is a breach of your tenancy agreement and a criminal offence

Subletting also prevents other keyworkers from accessing affordable housing. If you're facing challenges, please talk to us, we may be able to help.

Can I transfer to another property?

Yes, you may be able to transfer to another home within our portfolio. Speak to your accommodation office to explore available options.

Can I do a home swap?

No, mutual exchanges (home swaps) are not permitted. However, if you're interested in other homes we offer, contact our lettings team.
