What is bulky waste?
Bulky waste means big household items that won’t fit in your normal bin. This could be:
Furniture such as sofas, tables or wardrobes
Large appliances such as fridges or washing machines
Other big items you might get rid of when moving home.
How to get rid of bulky waste
Do not dump bulky waste items in shared areas. This is known as fly-tipping, which is illegal.
In line with your lease or tenancy agreement, you’re responsible for arranging collection for any bulky items you wish to get rid of.
There are different ways you can do this:
Council collection service - most councils offer a collection service for large waste collection items. Check your local council’s website for details.
Household waste and recycling centre - you can also take your items to your centre.
Private removal companies - there are also private removal companies available.
Donate to charity - you can also donate some furniture and household items in good condition to charities, some of which offer free collection.
